My name is Julie Marcotte

I grew up with a sewing supply store in our living room! My Mom made clothes for stores, and sold fabric, notions, sewing machines, etc....I remember falling asleep at the dining room table, during the evenings, while my Mom and Dad were working on a sewing machine that needed fixing!!

As a child, though, sewing was not my passion. I was too impatient and when I made a mistake I would get too mad...my sister would usually pick up my project and finish it for me. She was really good at making my clothes look great!!

At age 21, I found myself raising my two kids as a single parent, and had to put my sewing machine away for many years. Working full time and raising kids did not leave me any time to create anything....and I was NOT interested in making clothes!!!

Almost 3 years ago, at age 41, I married Robert. While I was preparing our reception, my love of sewing crept up in me, and I made a few raggedy ann dolls in my spare time. I sold some to friends at work, and even put an add in the Country Sampler.

Nothing happened!!

After many months of researching the internet to see what was out there, I slowly changed what I was doing, and made my debut on ebay February, 2007. A few months later, I was laid off from my work and I started my website. I was determined to make dolls for my "real" job. Now, it is a year later, and I work full time at home, making primitive raggedy dolls.

A few months ago, I decided to make patterns out of some of my designs, and it is going well, so I am going to continue to make more patterns this year.

I was asked to teach a class on doll making here in my home town, so I am very excited to do that!!

Thank you for your interest in my work!! I appreciate it very much!!
